01/07/10 Edit: Zagg sent me a new kit and I installed it w/o problems at this time. Support was awesome and now I see the product is excellent. I’m changing my rate from 3 to 5 because I really like the product now that it is installed.

12/29/09 Edit: Zagg is sending me a new kit to try. Awesome support received
12/18/09 Edit: Based on a reply received (Thanks Jim), I realized I did not do my best and gave the product an unfair review. I’ll try it again next and return here to report the experience. For now, I’m changing the rate from 2 to 3 starts due to the final-customer support received.
Original Post: This is a review for the 15″ macbook pro shield. Quality is good, instructions, spray, etc. Installation was impossible for me even watching the video, using the spray, washing my hands, etc. SUPER frustrating, VERY difficult to get good results. I ended up trashing my kit after a couple hours trying it. The plastic is stretchy what makes it very difficult to align with the computer edges. I guess if you do it frequently you can develop practice. I installed 4 laptop skins from a vendor that uses a 3M film. The film is not stretchy and aligns easily. I had no problems then. The invisible shield is not for everyone. I’ll now try a hard case to protect the computer now. Buy it with caution, I could not install my kit.

I was really excited when I got my Zagg Invisible shield. Well, that didn’t last too long. When I opened it and notice that there was no Spray or squeegee. I was able to put it on anyways with a water bottle but it still made me a little upset with Amazon. I have bought from Amazon plenty of times and this is a first for me.

Well, I was really looking forward to this product. I wanted to apply it before going out of town when, of course, my MBP is more likely to get scratched. I am glad it got delivered today since I needed it by tomorrow before I leave, but no ShieldSpray was included, so now it’s useless. No squeegee either. Too bad my computer won’t be protected now for the trip. Thanks Amazon.

In my hunt for the top-of-the-line MacBook protection for my new 15″ Unibody Pro, I read several reviews and forums, and found that the ZAGG InvisibleShield was recommended as one of the best protective products on the market.
The mentioned cons of the InvisibleShield often included the price and the product’s notoriously difficult installation process.
Thinking that the price was well worth it in the end, (This thing has to last me for the next 5 or 6 years, so I’d like to keep it nice) and determined that the installation would be “no big deal,” I purchased the InvisibleShield and received it within 2 days of my order.
Once I sat down to put the thing on, I realized that the reviews about the installation were entirely true.
First and foremost, the shield comes with “Shield Spray,” which one must spray onto the plastic itself before applying it to the body of the MacBook, and then squeegie-out with with an included tool, pulling the excess moisture out the edge of the shield. This frightened me a bit.
After all, Brand New MacBook Pro + Moisture In Ports = Broken MacBook Pro (and out of $2,200).
Another major problem I had occurred long before I was even able to apply the shield to the MacBook.
When trying to remove the biggest piece of the shield (the one to cover the top/lid of the MacBook) I succeeded only in letting it curl and stick to itself, leading to a sticky mess of plastic that I had no hopes of undoing. After giving up and telling myself I had officially wasted my money, I let it sit for a while and eventually got the nerve to try to “untie” the knot of plastic I had created. Much “Shield Spray” and pulling later, I successfully flattened the piece out once more and eventually applied it to the lid of my MacBook. It was (of course) smudged with fingerprints and air-bubbles, and didn’t quite fit right after all of the pulling to get it free of itself, but I read the instructions again, and remembered that it said to let it sit for a couple days and the air-pockets and what-not should disappear or smooth themselves out.
Shortly thereafter, I applied the rest of the included parts of the Shield.
It Came With…
1 TOP PIECE
2 BOTTOM PIECES
1 “PALM-REST” PIECE
4 SIDE PIECES (*These did not fit correctly and would have definitely covered up my ports had I not cut it to fit properly*)
1 TRACKPAD COVER (*I did not apply the trackpad cover due to the moisture concept. Since the Trackpad on the Unibody is one giant button, the moisture would have gotten into the body of the MacBook through the tiny space around the pad, causing more damage than I was willing to experiment with.*)
***It did NOT come with a SCREEN PROTECTOR, as I believe one of the diagrams/images on here suggests.***
So, two or three days later, after leaving my MacBook alone and off (so as to avoid frying it with the “moisture” from the Spray) I came back to find a nice smooth, glossy Shield on all of the parts of my MacBook. No air bubbles, smudges, or anything.
In summary, the thing is a massive pain to apply and takes a lot of patience (and Spray) to get it to cooperate, but in the end, you have a smudge-free, high-quality shield for the essential parts of your new MacBook.

*ALSO NOTE:
- While it shipped very quickly, what I received in the mail was a crunched up box with the Shields rolled up into a tube, which was also bent and wrinkled.
Perhaps it was the postal service/care-en-route, but regardless, I was not pleased with the initial condition of my product.

Hi Everybody!
I had had a doubt about this product, i really don’t knew what type of Macbook Pro Was it for? (15.4″ or 17″).
I Called to Amazon Customer Support, and they had not answer my question, so i took a risk and ordered.
Thanks God, it was fit in my 15.4″ Macbook Pro Aluminium Unibody.
