I bought this hard drive to repair my Archos Gmini 400 music player. I installed the drive, loaded the software, and Bam, back in business! The Gmini is running flawlessly! Archos will no longer support their own product, but thanks to Amazon and this drive, I was able to repair it myself.

I replaced the drive and battery in my old iPod Video, Since the replacement battery is stronger than the original, the iPod works great and last much longer than it originally did, The battery came with the tools to open the iPod and it was geeky easy to do.

In ordering this hard drive I thought it would fix my i-pod drive error but in putting my faith into getting a new drive and the drive working I had received a faulty drive and just assumed the i-pod was bad and tossed everything in a bin. Months later I go back to the hard drive to find that the drive was actually bad and the i-pod was still good but the seller does not warranty anything over 20 days.

It took years of waiting for these little drives to come down to realistic prices — originally they cost as much as a new iPOD. I’m pleased to have my original iPOD back up and running.

This has managed to keep my old 4G iPod chugging along, cheaper than buying a new iPod and has successfully kept my tunes playing while I hold out for an iPhone :)

iPod hard drive replacement isn’t too hard, but isn’t too easy either, search for some teardown guides… the hardest part is popping open the tabs to get the case open without scratching it up, but it’s doable!
