I bought a DV series laptop to use with streaming media and for the first six months it was great. Then it started hanging up during the boot. In the last sixteen weeks it’s been in for repair three times and the motherboard has been replaced twice. This time they’re replacing the RAM and the proc too. HP sold me a piece of junk and now they’re trying to sell me an extended warranty to cover their faulty equipment. The last crash took out all my pjotos and iTunes library!! Check online- there are many documented cases of DV series motherboard problems as well as HP’s poor warranty service and non-existant customer service!! If you don’t want to repair your laptop every six weeks, and have an intimate relationship with HP’s crappy customer service- look at a different brand!

I absolutely love my new HP laptop! it is much faster and easier to use than my old HP pavilon. (this one had XP and only 80GB hard drive and had long since been passed up technologically but still ran) that is why i purchased another HP Pavilion. I am impressed with the fact that windows 7 can read almost everything that the older programs have in them. It is awesome. i use this for school, for business and also for some work. i reccommend it to everyone and the graphics are great. The sound system could be a little better. i have not determined if it is program related or what but sometimes sound is normal and other times i can barely hear-probably related to older programs playing in windows 7.
