This is simply a great motherboard, but it should have more fan connectors on board, and more sata ports. The 890 is coming

The most impressive part might be that the motherboard temperature is always below 25 degrees at full load. Very good job is done in terms of keeping the temperature very low and also very easy to install. I recommend it.

I purchased this board with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor, but could not get the rig to post. After doing some additional research, this problem is VERY common for this board. This has been an extraordinary headache to try to use.

There are different BIOSes available for this motherboard, with varying levels of support for processors. Most of the relatively lower-end AM3 processors will be supported by all BIOS versions. However, for the higher-end processors, such as my 965, it’s rather uncommon to receive the proper level of BIOS support. I’m not the only reviewer to have experienced this problem.

I’ve tried getting ahold of technical support to replace the BIOS. So far, still waiting. Their suggestion to me was to purchase a second, lower-end processor, then flash the bios and use my current processor. Or send the mobo back and ask for a replacement. If I send it back, I’m getting a different brand!

Pros: Nice looking board. It will hopefully work well once I get my bios updated to where it should have been out of the box.

Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE USING THE NEWEST 125 W AMD Phenom X4 BE. Here I am typing this review on a borrowed laptop because Asus was too lazy to recall dated boards. The board did not ship with the latest bios, and is incompatible out of the box with the previously mentioned chip.

After spending over 5 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) they give me the opportunity to PAY THEM to fix THEIR mistake. They will send you a new bios chip, but you’ve got to pay for it.

Its absurd to know you cannot purchase a “nice” mobo like this one and not have it compatible with the latest processors.

Other Thoughts: I was put through to the bios department two times, both past 5:30 EST after just being told “yes, they are still in, they will pick up.” Both times to a useless answering machine. Only in my third try did an honest tech inform me they had been closed for the last 3 hours.

Then I ask for the manager. I am told he is “for sure in, we always have a manager on.” I get his voicemail. I leave a message. I wait two hours. I call back. I am again told the manager will pick up. Voicemail again. Its now been a full day since I left my voicemail to the manager and still no returned call.

I have my bios chip on the way, but I am still very unsatisfied. I would never purchase an Asus product again. This is mostly due to a severe lack in customer service.

Bottom line: I’ll never buy asus again. You might, other neweggers seem to like this board.

However, if you are planning on using the latest AMD processor, you should look elsewhere.

    M4A79 Deluxe is for AM2+ and AM3

    M4A79T Deluxe is AM3 ONLY.

Don’t make this mistake. I couldn’t return it.
