I bought this laptop for my husband as a replacement to his six year old Sony Vaio. We opted to go with a cheaper brand since this was to be primarily used for light surfing, word processing, and work-related travel.
From the moment this laptop came out of the box, it had constant problems connecting to the internet. We would have to reset the modem and router, as well as the laptop itself. When the laptop connected, it would often drop the connection. When it was connected, it would run so slow that it would take minutes and minutes to simply upload the next page. This was not a problem with our internet, since we run several other laptops and gaming devices with no problems. This was specific to the laptop. We contacted Acer in an effort to resolve this problem. After installing an update to the driver, the problem seemed to be resolved. However, two days later, it re-occurred. My husband was so frustrated with this laptop, that we have returned it. Unfortunately, it appears I’m only entitled to a 85% return, which is completely frustrating because we feel the laptop is defective. Although I purchased an ASUS laptop from Amazon, which has no problems, I will never purchase another one from Amazon because I refuse to be subjected to the return policy again.
Since my husband tried to use this laptop for home web surfing and to access his computer at work, the fact that the internet refuses to stay connected is unacceptable. He has stated he will never purchase another Acer product again.

I like the quality but it’s not what I wanted. ALSO YOU GUYS STOLE 200 DOLLARS FROM ME AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

I purchased this laptop computer because I needed a portable, thin, and one that had a long battery life. The battery life is pretty good but not any where near 8 hours. I only used this computer for school work so I did not browse the internet often because I wanted it to work and stay fast. However, fast is the last thing this computer is. It often takes 2 minutes to start up after being powered off. And once it is powered up seems to be very slow at running web pages and everything else for that matter. I have not even had this computer for 1 year yet and it just had a system crash that will not allow it to power up on the recovery disc. This has definately been the biggest waste of money for a laptop computer.

When I first bought my Acer Timeline 3810TZ I was really happy with it, it looked great and worked well. A few months later Acer announces a recall because of a problem with the microphone cable. Acer Tech support is terrible, as many other reviewers pointed out. I travelled to another country and they made me pay Fedex to send the faulty laptop to Texas even though there was a local Acer warranty center in the locality. Therefore Acer travellers warranty is an epic failure. Second thing is my screen developed 2 dim spots close to the edges and this is from light usage.
Now all of a sudden the power icon in Windows says it’s plugged in and not charging. The second I unplug the laptop from the wall socket the entire thing cuts off, 8 hours battery life is now 1 second battery life. This laptop isn’t even a full year old as yet and so many hardware problems, this is pathetic quality. Acer blows big time, NEVER again will I ever buy anything from Acer.
I get the feeling that my timeline is going to die for no reason on the day after the warranty expires. Acer charges so much money for this laptop and the quality is pathetic at best.

Its a great laptop. I would definitely recommend buying it if you need a portable but efficient and comfortable computer.
